Psilocybin

Psilocybin

Peyt’s Promise is intently focused on the hemp CBD and loves all things related to cannabis.  I’ve been reading some interesting articles lately about another new substance that is not as high profile as cannabinoids, but I guarantee that we’ll be more headlines about Psilocybin in the next few years

Psilocybin

Psilocybin, or magic mushrooms are known for the psychedelic effects and were used in the 1960s but have fallen off in popularity over the years, but a few states have been working to decriminalize the use of these mushrooms.  These are currently listed as schedule 1 items by the DEA.

Research is ongoing and there are potential uses in the medical field that include psychiatric disorders like OCD, depression, along with alcohol and cocaine abuse disorders.  The are being used for headaches and end of life psychological distress.   The studies being performed are occurring in a tightly controlled environment and producing some positive results but we’re a long way away from this being a mainstream substance. Lots of research and dedication is needed to prove definitively that this can be an effective tool to treating some health problems that we see today.

I am encouraged that the scientific community sees the need for a solution and are working towards natural options to treat many medical problems that we see today.
