The FDA met last week regarding CBD (cannabidiol) products derived from Hemp this last week. An article you may have read was published in Vogue along with other news sources. How safe is your CBD? The FDA is asking and you should, too.
The FDA is discussing this as we've known they would for a long time and hopefully it will help the consumer. There are many CBD companies that proclaim superiority and make unrealistic, unsubstantiated claims that give people false hope and they end up being disappointed. Not only this, but many companies without scruples are not providing what is advertised in their products. It's truly unfortunate as many people may be turned off by CBD altogether because they had a bad experience with one of these individuals. This is a shame because CBD, along with other cannabinoids and the plant in general has amazing benefits and uses that we need to utilize.
What should you do?
I've written about this many times before but as a consumer, you should make these companies provide you with their information before you give them one dime. You should make them earn your business. There are a few important questions one should know when buying any hemp CBD product, whether from us or anywhere else.
Where was the hemp grown? How was it grown? Were there herbicides and pesticides used? What does the certificate of analysis show? Some companies go above and beyond and provide a terpene analysis, heavy metal analysis and list any pesticides or herbicides found in the analysis.
Take this for example. If you were taking a test and made a 71 (assuming C is passing in college), would you be happy? Would you be happy if your CBD product made a figurative 71 on it's test? or would you want it to be an overachiever and make the 105 because it did the extra credit assignment? If any company is hesitant to show you their test results that indicates something is amiss and as a consumer, you should be concerned.
Think about it. You're the consumer and you have the right to know what's in ANYTHING you're putting in your body. Ask questions. Take charge of your own health. Don't be afraid to keep searching for that star company that wants to earn your business by being a superior product. The CBD market has MANY companies and in due time, the ones that don't pass or barely pass will be weeded out; please do your homework and buy only the highest quality products. You may spend a bit more, but you won't be disappointed by the results.
At Peyt's Promise, we are always willing to help you on your journey and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
